Kick Start Your Day

Most of the time, yoga is seen as a mind and body exercise to bring the nerves down and relieve the stress that you have accumulated throughout the day; that’s why, people often practice them after work or before bed. But there is more to yoga than calming your nerves from a hectic day at work or school; because yoga can be great addition to morning routine. Here are some of the benefits of yoga in the morning.

1. Have Your ‘Me’ Time - Throughout the day your attention is snatched away easily by work, social media, your phone and more. Doing yoga in the morning gives you the opportunity to focus on yourself, your thoughts, and your body before you’re thrown into another hectic day. You can start off by practicing the Savasana or the Corpse Pose when you’re dedicating time for yourself.

Lie on your back with your legs straight and arms on your sides and palms facing upward. Just relax, breathe deeply, and focus on your inner self. And as you breathe, try to think of the things that you’re thankful for; it may make your alone time more enjoyable.

2. Set Your Rhythm for the Day - Usually, the first thing that you do or experience in the morning sets the mood of your entire day. Since you’ve decided to do yoga early in the day, you’re setting a calmer and more positive tone. Support the tranquillity you feel by practicing the Balasana or the Child Pose.

Kneel on your bed, on the carpet, on your yoga mat with the soles of your feel facing upward. Sit on your heels, relax your hips, align your shoulders with your knees, and extend your arms in front of you with your palms and forehead touching the ground. Breathe deeply and relax.

3. Be More Focused- As you try to find body harmony and inner balance, you are able to focus on your thoughts. Yoga in the morning can help clear your mind and increase focus. Include the Sukhasana or Easy Pose in your morning routine to promote awareness in yourself and in your surroundings. Sit cross-legged on the floor or on your bed as you align your head, spine, and chest. Place your hands on your knees or thighs, relax your shoulders, and make yourself comfortable. Focus on your breathing and your thoughts.

4. Get Your Energy - Although you’re constantly reminded being relaxed, you may find that you are thoroughly warmed up and energized after your morning yoga. This is because aside from giving time to contemplate, allowing you to get a positive head start for the day, and increasing your focus; wakes up your mind, warms up your body, and gives you the energy you need to get through the day.
